Literacy Plan

Grade 3 Language Arts Plan for April - June

April

May

June

1. Grammar Minutes-please do 2 per week, you can choose which 2 days. They take less than 5 minutes to do one.

2. Daily Reading- Can be done with books in your home library.  Using Epic books login or Raz Kids login.  We will be assigning books in Epic books, but students also have an opportunity to access many wonderful books on their own.  Raz kids is a levelled reading program with a reading comprehension component built in.  Try to mix it up and make it fun.  Please try to spend at least 15 minutes a day reading.

3. Daily Writing Prompts-we provided monthly writing prompts for every day of the month from April to June.  Use the writing scribbler to have them respond to the prompt. Encourage your child to write the date of each entry, including capitals and periods. This should take 5-10 minutes approximately. We will also be assigning writing activities on Seesaw for your child to respond to.

4. Monday-Thursday Spelling or Phonics Book-your child has a levelled book that they can spend about 10 minutes on daily.

For a Spelling book we do one lesson for two weeks. When they finish their spelling lesson at the end of two weeks, you can give them a spelling test if you’d like.

Spelling Book Schedule:

March 30-April 9- Lesson 11
